At the beginning of senior high school, quite a lot of freshmen cannot adapt to senior high school English education. They may have difficulty in learning English and even show dislike for English learning. There exists the problem of English education consistency between junior high schools and senior high schools. Compared with junior high schools, senior high schools have higher requirements for student’s knowledge, ability and learning methods, so some students may find it difficult to adapt to senior high school English education. As a result, the conundrum of how to help new senior high school students adapt to senior high school English education in a relatively short time has plagued a lot of senior high school English teachers for a long time. This not only affects the teachers’ teaching effect, but also hinder students from a long-term comprehensive development. At present, the English education consistency problem between junior high school and senior high school is a challenge to all English teachers, though scholars at home and abroad have conducted a lot of researches on it. Yet most of the researches are concerned about the English consistency education problem between primary and secondary schools, or between senior high schools and colleges, and the English education consistency research between junior high schools and senior high schools is relatively rare.With the help of the constructivism theory, the author makes a research on the unadaptable problem of inconsistency, using questionnaire method, interview method, observation method and other research methods.The author discusses the problems and tries to put forward the corresponding solutions. In the research, the author invites 36 teachers and 208 students from the four senior high schools in Yantai and tries to discover the present situation of the consistency of English teaching in junior and senior high schools and problems with it. The research questions are as follows:1.What is the present situation of the consistency of English teaching in junior and senior high schools?2. What are the problems with the consistency of English teaching in junior and senior high schools?3. What are the factors influencing the consistency of English teaching in junior and senior high schools?After collecting and analyzing the questionnaire data, the interview records and classroom observation, the author draws the following conclusion:(1) The English education consistency problem between junior high schools and senior high schools influences senior high school English teaching quality. To a large extent, the students have spent less time on their English learning time, their learning difficulty has increased, and their learning methods have not changed properly in time.(2) Quite a number of teachers and students ignore the importance of the English education consistency; most of the students at the beginning of senior high adopt the same English learning mode as that of junior high schools, so their study effect is not ideal; Although many teachers realize the importance of the English education consistency, fewer teachers really put the consistency education into practice, and their classroom teaching mainly meets the requirement of college entrance examination. In addition, most of the teachers can pay attention to student’s changes in the body and mind, but there still exist many unreasonable conditions in the teaching methods, teachers’ evaluation and so on, so senior high school English consistency education is facing severe challenges.(3) The influences in the English education consistency problem lie in junior high schools, and senior high schools. Senior high school English teaching objectives have big differences from those in junior high schools; student’s learning motivation and learning methods have varied a lot, and teacher’s consistency conception have not been updated in time; teachers’ teaching activities, teaching evaluation and teaching methods are in unreasonable situation.Therefore, this paper combines theory with education practice, and finally put forward the corresponding countermeasures. These measures are: English teachers should actively implement the evaluation process of subjectivity and diversity, find out the differences between junior and senior high school English teaching, optimize the use of teaching methods, stimulate students’ learning motivation, give students the initiative to learn in practice and help students realize autonomous and pluralistic development on the basis of the new curriculum standards.
