Nowadays,English education has formed an integrated system which contains primary school,junior high school,senior high school and college.But the consistency problems among these English textbooks for different stages are coming out in the meantime.The consistency issues have a great influence upon the result and the quality of teaching and learning English.It is obviously that the textbook consistency issues have a strong impact on the result of their graduation and admission.Recently,many senior English teachers have found that the teaching procedures are more and more difficult to take.Some students,especially in rural areas,produce the mood of weariness during learning English,even give up learning it.It is well known that one can’t learn English well without good foundation.For the freshmen in Senior One,English will be more and more difficult to learn well if the foundation isn’t good enough in the first semester.In order to consolidating foundation,it is necessary to transfer the English teaching and learning fluently from junior to senior high schools.Textbooks which serve as an important part in English teaching and learning play an important role during consolidating students’ foundation.Therefore to ensure the consistency of English learning and teaching from junior high school to senior high school smoothly,we should start with textbooks.So studying how to make the English textbooks consistency between junior high school and senior high school smoother is particularly important and necessary.This paper mainly uses literature review method,comparative analysis method and questionnaire investigation method,solving the following two questions:1)What are the English textbooks consistency issues between junior and senior high school?2)How can the senior teachers deal with the textbooks consistency issues?Through reading a lot of literature and making a questionnaire to investigate the usage situation of the New Senior English For China Students’ Book in senior high school,the writer finds out the consistency issues of the textbooks from junior high school to senior high school.And then according to the requirements of the New Curriculum Standards,these two sets of New Senior English For China Students,Book and Go For It! are analyzed and compared.Finally,some corresponding measures are put forward to the senior teachers according to the results of this research.In a word,it aims to help students get through the consistency period of English learning from junior high school to senior high school smoothly and lay a better English foundation for the rest years in senior school.
