| Senior high school education is the organic part of the Chinese elementary education, which plays a unique role in Chinese national education system. It is the transitional period for students to receive higher education. Therefore, senior high school education has an extremely significance for Chinese students and for the development of the national politics, economy etc. The high-speed development of society and the higher requirements for talents determine that there is a necessity to reform the current middle school education system. Under this circumstance, Weinan Duqiao Middle School has worked out the objectives of teaching reform as "to liberate teachers and students, to create efficient classroom, and to enhance school competitiveness", and has formed its own teaching model----2-6-1model.The senior high school is the key stage in individual growth, and also the crucial period for individuals’personality-shaping, in this period one’s psychology would become mature. The first year in senior school is particularly significant for students, because whether they can adapt to the high school learning or in what extent they can adapt to depend on their first year in senior high school. However, investigative materials show that because there are different teaching methods in junior and senior high school and because senior high school students have more pressure in their study; most students have great difficulty in studying English. They couldn’t adapt to the high school English study. That’s to say, the consistency is lacked between junior middle school and senior high school. As teachers, we do have the responsibility to help them to overcome these difficulties. Then how do English teachers help students believe in themselves and be confident in their English study, and thus help them successfully go through the consistency of English study between junior middle school and senior high school under2-6-1model?This thesis will firstly introduce the New Curriculum,2-6-1model in Weinan Duqiao Middle School (the interpretation of2-6-1model, the features of2-6-1model, the specific issues in operation, the introduction of the learning guide), the related theories of2-6-1model, and then the current situation in senior high school under2-6-1model and problems existing in the consistency of English study between junior middle school and senior high school under2-6-1model (the analysis of the students’ questionnaire and the teachers’interview). In the last chapter, some meaningful and efficient suggestions will be given, e.g. exploring the psychology of students and helping them believe in themselves; helping students adapt the senior school life as quickly as possible; helping students form good learning habits [how to use tool books (dictionary and grammar books), how to make notes, how to preview and review timely]; making full use of the learning guide and evaluating students appropriately and establishing the good relationship between junior middle school and senior high school teachers.The purpose of the thesis is to help students of Grade1in senior high school go through the consistency of English study between junior middle school and senior high school more smoothly and successfully under2-6-1model, and lay a good foundation for their senior high school study and the life-long learning. |
