In recent years, the constant economic development of China has accelerated the course of modernization, and the number of the special group of “stay-at-home moms” is on the increase. For married women, it is an important decision about whether or not to entirely return to family after childbirth, and becoming a “stay-at-home mom” is a significant turning point in a woman’s life. After stay-at-home moms return to families, they devote more time to family and have less time at their own disposal. Furthermore, they become disconnected from society after leaving office, leading to the “baby brain” effect just as the old saying goes: mothers-to-be often feel forgetful and are a bit slow on the uptake. In this paper, the author will combination with the social work practice conducted during the internship to discuss how to enhance the abilities of “stay-at-home moms”.During the internship in Shenzhen, the author mainly took charge of the work relating to women and family in the M community. Through community investigation, the author found that the community has many stay-at-home moms. But they are facing difficulties, such as lacking of fun and direction of lives, feelings of low self-worth and lacking of energy of themselves, and they are in urgent need to be energized with the help of social workers. Therefore, this article will use survey research and action research method to study and analysis the present situation and predicament of stay-at-home moms in M community, and under the guidance of empowerment theory and social support network theory. By conducting hand workshop community activities and English interest group to enhance the abilities of “stay-at-home moms”, the author will rethink from and from effectiveness, difficulties and practice to explore the indispensability of social work interferes in enhancing the ability of “stay-at-home moms”.
