On China Urban Full-time Mothers' Reemployment Predicament And Its Countermeasures From The Perspective Of Social Support

In recent years,with the increasing number of "Stay-at-home Mom",their living condition has gradually attracted the attention of all sectors of society.For many Stay-at-home Moms,going home with their husband and teaching their children is only a stage in life.As children grow up,some Stay-at-home Moms hope to return to the workplace again.However,due to the "empty period" of working,their knowledge and skills lag behind,lack of resources,lack of selfconfidence and so on,they face great difficulties in re-employment.How to help full-time mothers get out of the dilemma and return to work smoothly is a problem that need our attention.Based on the perspective of social support theory,this study focuses on the re-employment of urban Stay-at-home Moms,taking A district of Beijing as an example.Through questionnaires and in-depth interviews with some Stay-at-home Moms in A district of Beijing,the author knows the basic situation and main difficulties of their re-employment.Then,from the perspective of social support,the author analyses the causes of the plight of urban Stay-at-home Moms in reemployment,and puts forward countermeasures for promoting the re-employment of urban Stayat-home Moms.The content of this paper includes five aspects.Firstly,the paper explains the theory of social support,and provide theoretical support for the analysis of reasons of the plight of Stay-athome Moms in re-employment and its countermeasures.Secondly,the paper analyses necessity and feasibility of Stay-at-home Moms' re-employment,and knows the willingness and basic situation of urban Stay-at-home Moms' re-employment through questionnaires.These content will pave the way for the following discussion.Thirdly,the paper summarizes the main difficulties faced by Stay-at-home Moms in re-employment through in-depth interviews.In the study,we found that the main difficulties faced by Stay-at-home Moms in re-employment include gender discrimination;numerous employment conditions,narrow employment scope;older age;lack of competitiveness;relatively backward knowledge and skills,lack of selfconfidence;difficult to balance work and family;interrupted professional roles;psychological gap and so on.Fourthly,the paper analyzes the reasons for the plight of urban Stay-at-home Moms in re-employment from the perspective of social support.Author believes that the lack of a perfect social support network for Stay-at-home Moms is the main reason for their reemployment difficulties.The causes of the dilemma are analyzed from the following three aspects: single source of social support,imperfect structure,unbalanced function of social support,and lack of the ability of individual to tap and utilize social support.Among them,the lack of formal social support,the limitations of informal social support and the lack of linkage among social support systems are also discussed.Finally,the paper puts forward countermeasures and suggestions for government,community,social organization,and family to solve the plight of Stay-at-home Moms in re-employment from the perspective of social support.
