"The new curriculum standards pointed out that students should "learn to cooperate and communicate with others." During the improvement of the new curriculum, teachers tend to use "group working" modals in their teaching. The biggest advantage of this teaching modal is to tap students’ active exploration in study, thinking and involvement in class. In recent years, with the implementation of new curriculum, many teachers have tried to divide the class into several groups. To achieve their study goals, students work together and help with each other in a group. Their active self exploration, on the one hand, extends their knowledge and improves mathematics skills, on the other hand, it achieves teachers’ teaching objectives. In traditional teaching, teachers are used to teaching rather than teaching them learning.Since the use of group working, it enhances students’ learning initiative. The corporation between students and the interaction between teachers and students become more effective. Both teachers and students enjoy their teaching and studying. Group working not only changes teachers’ way of teaching, but also students’ studying and sets up a new relationship of corporation and collectiveness between teachers and students.According to the documentary research and empirical studies of the new curriculum standards in new junior high school mathematics, this article finds out some obstacles and reasons in group corporative working, and points out some strategies of improving group working as well. These obstacles include:(a) grouping at discretion, lack of the science; (b) the content is not suitable for cooperation;(c)group cooperative establishment is not suitable for cooperation;(d)the role of teachers is not in the place;(e)the evaluation is not comprehensive, lacking of effective evaluation methods. According to students, teachers and the current teaching system, this article points out the reasons of these obstacles and thus come up with some strategies of improving group working:(a) form a scientific cooperative learning groups; (b) suitable content;(c)establish more peaceful situation; (d)change teachers’ role;(e)establish various evaluation system.
