With the further reform in new curriculum in recent years, there has been increasing demand for development of three-dimensional teaching objectives. In the process of History teaching in high school, the issues regarding fostering students’historical sensitiveness, applying historical knowledge into identify and overcome problems have become the focus of attention in the field of high school History teachers, among which the teaching of historical materials draws on more spotlights.Most importantly, considerable emphasis has been given on how well students can understand and analyze historical materials in the National College Entrance Exam, since ample historical-materials relative exam questions appear in it.Under this circumstance, there is no doubt that importance should be exerted in the research of class teaching and teaching strategy in high school historical materials. Whereas, what real problems concerning historical records exist in high school new curriculum History class? What parts in the process of teaching should be emphasized? Are there any principles or strategies, that is, referential cases or models? All those questions are worth exploring.Therefore, this thesis makes great efforts to address those issues by conducting a multitude of surveys of teachers and students in local school. Through the surveys, the thesis investigates,analyses, uncovers problems, finally researches the class teaching and strategy in the teaching of historical materials. Methods of documents analysis and exam questions analysis are applied to concentrate on classification, identification as well as collection of teaching historical materials, at the same time, to explore strategies and methods in applying historical materials so that eventually come up with relevant teaching model.This thesis arrives at two conclusions through the research on historical materials: first, the teaching of historical records is of great long-term, real, and social importance. There is inadequate attention given to historical materials in high school History class. Despite extensive gap among different areas and schools, the lack of historical-materials awareness and teaching strategies are the main cause. Second, though ability obtained in historical materials teaching can effectively and efficiently improve students’grades, the true objective of high school History class is to develop students’historical awareness, humanity,and values. Thus, more focus should be offered into historical materials teaching to the cultivation and distillation of character of students.
