With the new reform of basic education curriculum, in 2003, the “Criteria for Chinese Course in High-School(experiment) were enacted.” Open the elective course has become an indispensable part of represent the new curriculum ideas, compilation of elective textbooks become focus of attention. The Language Elective high school textbooks was divided in five series, the five series are “Verse and Prose”, “Fiction and Drama”,” Press the biography”, “Language application”, “culture treatise”. The<Language Application>(elective) teaching material has published by People’s Education Press, and compile by “Peking University”, “The language education institute”, “Classroom teaching material research institute”, “People’s Education Press” and it has put into use.Selecting <Language Application> as the research object, it has been comprehensive study through “Documentary Analysis”, “Case Analysis Method”, ”Summarizing method”. On the basis of analyzed the characteristics of textbook, the paper put forward it advantage and weakness. The paper also put forward the effective learning and teaching methods, eventually it would like to help teacher and students use this textbook.This paper, except introduction and conclusion, is divided into four parts mainly: From the angle of the students, part one is mainly state the meaning analysis of set up “ Language Application” from four aspects. This paper can let the students more systematic and disciplinary study of the Chinese Language, enlarge the students’ knowledge margin, improve students’ ability of autonomous learning, and strengthen students’ love of Chinese Language. The second part is the study of structure and content on “Language Application”. First introduced the teaching materials of the four structure modules, they are “Introduction”, “Classroom Activities”, “Tool Case”,“Practice”. And the second, analyze the textbook four parts about “Activity system”,“knowledge system”, “help-reading system”, “exercise system”, it mainly detailed analysis of System Properties and characteristic. Part three is research study method about “Language Application”, it mainly research using what way to learning this textbook is more effective and beneficial to cultivating students’ independent leaning capacity. Part four is research teaching strategies on “Language Application”,it mainly research how to use teaching method improve learning efficiency.
