Ni Shuo Ne?, an excellent Chinese textbook applied in the French middle schools, is published on2009by Didier Press in France, which French name is Methode de chinois. The three editors, Arnaud Arslangul, Claude Lamouroux and Isabelle Pillet are the great scholars in the field of Chinese research and also the experienced professors in the French middle schools, who are familiar with the language policy of EU and France.Inherited the fine traditions of Chinese teaching in France, embodied the results of French modern foreign language teaching approach, on the basis of A1/A2level standard of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, followed the French middle school Chinese Teaching Programs, Ni Shuo Ne? is committed to cultivate students’ability in Chinese listening, speaking, reading and writing. This book which covers the elementary knowledge of Chinese pronunciation, Chinese characters, vocabulary, syntax and culture, provides us a good example of Chinese textbook editing by its organic combination and its innovation. However this book reveals some defects as it is constrained by the European foreign language teaching mode and that it ignores the characteristics of Chinese phonetic system and writing system.
