Classical Chinese is the treasure of the Chinese nation, it has perfectly reflected the magnificent wonders of the Chinese culture, and it has created the legend of Chinese language throughout history. As a result, students have an obligation to learn writings in classical style well for passing on Chinese culture. After the concept of autonomous learning was presented in the new curriculum standard, the autonomous learning of classical Chinese has gradually been emphasized widely by many educators. At present, autonomous learning has become a very important subject in educational feild, but also it is considered as one of the three learning approaches from new curriculum reform. The new curriculum reform mainly advocates the transformation of the mode of learning, which should have an emphasis on the students who will learn with autonomy and cooperative inquiry. And it has paid attention to cultivate students’ ability of autonomous learning. However, at present, junior high school students learn classical Chinese passively. Students have just mechanically accepted the knowledge from the teacher, so theyhave a lack of consciousness of autonomous learning, which leads tothe low autonomous learning ability. However, the classical Chineseteaching is still adopt traditional force-feeding teaching method inorder to cope with the pressure of the entrance exam. Thus, studentshave a lack of learning interest in classical Chinese. In order tochange the teaching situation of classical Chinese and student’slearning methods, even improve the autonomous learning ability ofclassical Chinese in junior high school, this paper has an investigationand analysis on the current situation of classical Chinese learning,and then some effective guiding strategies will be put forward.This thesis is divided into six parts as a whole. The first part isintroduction, which mainly introduces the research background andsignificance, and research situation of the autonomous learning ofclassical Chinese is also elaborated. There is a review of the overallresearch literature, as a result, the author puts forward someresearch deficiencies. The second part discusses the theoreticalbases for autonomous learning of the classical Chinese, whichincludes the definition of the concept of autonomous learning, thecharacteristics of the classical Chinese and the necessity andfeasibility of autonomous learning for classical Chinese in juniormiddle school. The third part introduces the overall design of the study which are the research objects, research methods, researchinstruments and data processing and analyses. The fourth part is aninvestigation and analysis on present situation of classical Chineselearning in junior high school. And the questionnaire is designed tosurvey present learning situation and teaching situation. Also, theinterview is conducted to know that students have a lack ofconsciousness and the strategies of autonomous learning in classicalChinese. Because teachers cannot exactly realize the autonomouslearning mode from the new curriculum, they just use single teachingstrategy without the guiding strategies for classical Chinese learning.As a result, the author thinks that: as the junior high school studentshave low learning motivation, the consciousness and ability ofchoosing learning contents as well as learning willpower arerelatively weak, also, the learning strategies are in a low level. All ofthis are considered as the subjective factors, and some objectivefactors are also presented. For instance, the teachers always adoptthe single teaching strategies and they cannot choose theappropriate ways of autonomous learning with teaching contents.Consequently, students’ independent learning ability of learningclassical Chinese is in a low level. The last part aims at the existingproblems of autonomous learning situation on classical Chinese inthe junior high school. And then some guiding strategies are put forward: stimulate interest in learning, cultivate autonomous learningconsciousness; clear learning objectives, learn to how to develop aplan of study; enphasize on classroom reform, strengthen theautonomous learning; pay attention to the learning methodinstruction, cultivate autonomous learning ability.
