The independent learning is considered as an important topic of education studypresently. In recent year, it attracts more and more attention, the domestic and foreignindependent learning research has also made the significant progress. The curriculumreform of basic education clearly indicates to change students’ learning style, ask studentsto find out their own learning styles and learn by themselves under the guidance of theirteachers. However, because of the influence of the "teacher centered" teaching mode for along time, the students’ dominant position has been in an ignored state. Based on this issue,this study proposed a new topic which concerned the teaching strategies for middle gradestudents of primary school on Mathematics’ independent learning ability.First of all, the author conducted a survey about the level of development status ofmiddle grade students of primary school on Mathematics’ independent learning ability,then found out that the middle grade students of primary school do not develop well onMathematics’ independent learning ability. Secondly, based on understanding the issue, therelated theory and practices both in China and abroad were combined with the learningcharacteristics. The Grade three of primary school as experimental subjects, the above methodwere used in the experiment which was intervened by the teachers.Specific teaching strategies include the following points. First, the teachers changetheir concept and cultivate an atmosphere which could help to develop the independentlearning. Second, motivation of independent learning should be stimulated to enhancestudents’ self-efficacy. Third, optimize the learning strategies and improve the students’independent learning ability. Finally and significantly, the results show that the middlegrade students of primary school on Mathematics’ independent learning ability can be improved by the teaching intervention.Through this study, we find that the Mathematics’ independent learning ability formiddle grade students of primary school should be combined with theirlearning characteristics, physiological and psychological characteristics. At the same time,the Mathematics’ independent learning ability should be with the characteristics ofmathematics to pay more attention to the scientificity and effectiveness of teachingstrategies.
