Current news as an important extra-curricular courses presents the times andinformation technology education characteristics.This is the teaching of geographyneeded.Geography teaching can not do without the application of current news.Geography as a natural science and social science disciplines highly integrated,closecontact with our production and life.Concerned about current news, collect and usethe current news to guide and interpretation of the teaching contents becomeinevitable. Current news in geography teaching process, in line with the times ofgeography teaching characteristics.This has important implications for enhancingstudents ’interest in learning geography, and enhance students’ learning motivation andincrease the geographic geography teaching quality.Under the new curriculum standards,geography teaching activities should changethe past—"the teacher teach, students learn" teaching method to "student-centered,teacher supplemented by purposeful guidance together to complete the task ofteaching, so that students get the comprehensive development". Current newsapplication meets the requirements of the new curriculum standards.Under theguidance of teachers consciously guide students to complete the appropriate sectionsof the affairs of independent news gathering finishing work, and ultimately enablestudents to achieve proficiency level of the corresponding section.Meanwhile, trainingstudents’ self-learning ability,analytic-al thinking skills and problem solving skills,and improve the overall quality of students.This paper aims to study geography teaching on the proper application of currentnews, to put forward some ideas and thoughts.Then, to inspire high school studentsinterested in learning geography, improve teaching efficiency in the geographyclassroom teaching, and thus enhance the overall quality of teaching geography.Idecided on the current news that things appear and definition to read andunderstand.Accurate positioning the concept of news combined with the theoreticalfoundation of philosophy, pedagogy and psychology to analyze the significance ofcurrent news applications in geography teaching and research methods. This studyincludes the following sections:First, by reading the new curriculum standards and related literature, currentnews,and to understand the definition of accurate positioning in the use of geographyteaching. Meanwhile, On the status of this research and current news at home andabroad applications in geography teaching meaning.Second,approach to the current news gathering, filtering and sorting methodsdescribed principles. Around us all the time there is a current events occurs, you needtargeted to collect and filter as needed. Made way for current news collectedaccording to the nature of current events and geography teaching, principles and finishing methods of screening, so that current events fully integrate with the teachingof geography.Third,how appropriate application of current events put forwardcountermeasures on the teaching of geography. Combined with current news ingeography teaching practice teaching, and to explore specific applications of newsand analysis of current events specific applications in all aspects of the teaching ofgeography. Combined with specific teaching cases, the effect of current events on theapplication of analysis and evaluation.The research results show that: the selection of news must be close to the natureof current news and geography courses,you must select the appropriate current eventsapplied geography teaching. In geography teaching process, the application must beclosely linked to current news geography textbook, consistent with the law ofdevelopment of students, in line with teachers’ personality to play, in order toimprove the quality of teaching as a whole.
