Environmental issues emerged gradually since the first Industrial Revolution and became more and more distinguished after the second Industrial Revolution, which brought human society from steam to electricity. The global environment has deteriorated rapidly since the 1980’s, with more outstanding problems such as global warming, land desertification, declines of forests and biological diversity.As a consequence of those mentioned problems, Environmental issues are attracting more attention in human society while environmental education is being concerned in related fields. Environmental education, as an interdisciplinary science, contains a wide range of knowledge, aiming at cultivating the learners’ comprehensive environmental quality via environmental knowledge, ability to solve environmental issues, environmental values and environmental awareness. <The agenda of 21 st century> by the State Council has clearly indicated that the thought of sustainable development to students should be emphasized, adding courses on resource, ecological environment as well as sustainable development to high schools’ curriculum. Among courses in high school, geography bases on geographic environment, man-land relationship and human sustainable development, which mainly demonstrate mutual influences and constraints between human activity and geographical environment. How to coordinate man-land relationship is where the environmental education concentrates and the core problem for geography education and it is the reason why geography curriculum has a close link with environmental education and contributes a lot to it.With the reform of senior high school curriculum, the local department and school have become more independent in curriculum development and a 3-level curriculum management hierarchy established and implemented by central government, local government and school is being built step by step. School-based courses are important complement to national ones’, they can satisfy needs for students and teachers and meanwhile reflect the area characteristics. GuangXi, known as a karst landform forming district, has environmental problems such as large scale of stony desertification, severe seasonal river contamination and vulnerable eco-environment. The environmental education has been on gradually in this area by adding <Environmental Education> into primary school curriculum. However, the fact that none is being applied in senior high school stage indicates geographic environment education is still urgent. This paper summarize the related knowledge points and contents through analysis of geographic teaching materials currently used for senior high school in NanNing, At the same time, it targets the current situation of geographic environment education and development of textbook in GuangXi by means of survey and interview from students and teachers of senior high school in this area, which covers aspects on geographic environment education foundation, students’ awareness of environmental protection, the education status in class as well as further needs and suggestions. And finally it can offer materials to the development of geographic education textbook and services for geographic environment education to senior schools in GuangXi according to analysis of students’ needs, result of the survey and research on textbook development.
