In junior school, classical Chinese reading teaching is an important part in Chinese teaching. However, only through classical Chinese reading teaching in textbook is difficulty for students to achieve the curriculum standards. Therefore, the expanding reading teaching in classical Chinese has realistic pertinence and certain research significance in cultivating students’ reading ability. The expanding reading teaching in classical Chinese can make up the lack of classical Chinese reading teaching in textbook, and help students understand knowledge and forming abilities in reading classical Chinese.This paper can be divided into four parts. Introduction part explains the history of the expanding reading teaching in classical Chinese to determine the starting point for research, then explains the research meaning, methods and the main content of this paper. In the first part, on the basic of elaborating the connotation of junior school classical Chinese expanding reading teaching, through questionnaires and interviews and the data analysis, we find some problems in junior classical Chinese expanding reading at this stage. For example:the lack of training and the redundancy in textbook in classical Chinese reading teaching, and the lack of guidance of expanding classical Chinese teaching out of class. It is mainly because the influence of the guiding function of examinations and teachers’ personal philosophy and accomplishment and students’ learning habits. From here we can see that the expanding reading teaching in classical Chinese in junior middle school should be improved. The second chapter mainly expounds the necessity of expanding reading teaching in classical Chinese in junior school. Expanding reading teaching in classical Chinese plays an important role in remembering and strengthening language knowledge, forming self-study ability and enhancing the quality of language. This part mainly according to the students’ classical Chinese reading level and the time of students’ expanding reading in classical Chinese, carries out a feasibility analysis of expanding reading teaching in classical Chinese reading. In the third chapter, we put forward the teaching and learning strategies in expanding reading teaching in classical Chinese according to problems found in present. To teachers, they should pay attention to the selection of content, reading guidance, inspection and evaluation, and the sequence of reading contents. To students, they should pay attention to the time management, methods of circling and labeling while reading and self evaluation in classical Chinese expanding reading.The main content of this study is the strategies of teaching and learning in expanding classical Chinese language teaching practice through the two ways of teachers and students. And this paper can provide guidance in what and how to expand and carry out in classical Chinese expanding reading teaching for teachers and students.
