Study On The Application Of Project Management In The Scientific Research Project Management In Higher Educational Institutes

With the implementation of the national strategy of building aninnovation-oriented country in China, higher educational institutes, which are actingas one of the country’s main fronts of scientific research and innovation, will take onmore and more tasks in the said field. Thus how to conduct more scientifically andeffectively the Scientific Research Project Management (SRPM) in highereducational institutes has already become a topic of concern. Against this background,it is especially necessary and important to introduce some modern managementapproaches in order to strengthen the study on the SRPM in higher educationalinstitutes.By applying research approaches of literature survey, investigation and casestudy mainly, and by setting its technical route as theoretical study--applied modelconstruction--practice case study, the theme of this paper will be focused on theapplication of project management in the SRPM.In this paper, the necessity and feasibility of SRPM is demonstrated with latesttheory and approaches of project management introduced. Further, through definingquality management, schedule management, cost management and human resourcesmanagement as the critical control points of the SRPM in higher educationalinstitutes, and by raising the process and approaches of these control points, theauthor hereby tries to build for higher educational institutes a new reference model ofSRPM which is strictly based on the concept of control points and closely alignedwith the distinguishing features of higher educational institutes.Adopting the SRPM in Minnan Normal University as a study case, this paperalso uses SRPM theory and approaches to propose some improvement opinions forthe university by analyzing its existing problems and causes.
