It is known to all that all language learning takes the master of four language skills as its goal. These four language skills refer to listening skill, speaking skill, reading skill and written skill. They are also be called the integrated skills of lsrw, in which listening skill is in the first place. Therefore, we can realize the importance of the listening skill. However, through literature reading and according to my teaching experience, I know that lots of students still think it is difficult to acquire the listening skill, the listening class is always tedious and that students can hardly learn anything from the listening class. Some scholars even claim directly that the existing listening teaching research still hasn’t figured out the underlying reason why the quality of the listening teaching is so low, not to speak the solving of the problem.Therefore, I launch an investigation, with the listening teachers and the students of intermediate Chinese level in College of International Education, Shandong University as my research object. Questionnaires and interviews are taken as the main way to study the current situation of the listening teaching, the reasons leading to the unsatisfactory situation of the listening teaching, the students’ learning needs and the teachers’ suggestions about the listening teaching. According to the survey, we know that the students’ evaluation of listening course is low, the students are not satisfied with the independent listening course; the majority of the students and teachers believe that the oneness in teaching contents and teaching methods is the main reason why the present situation of the listening teaching are so unsatisfactory and they prefer the listening and oral class with lots of communication. In addition, after comparing the exam questions in HSK test with two commonly used textbooks, I know that there are exam-oriented factors in the listening class. Through logical analysis, I believe that it is the listening course itself and the test factors behind the listening teaching that result to the oneness in teaching contents and teaching methods.Based on the previous analysis, considering the students’ needs and the teachers’ suggestions, I put forward my advice about the listening teaching. Firstly,we should set up HSK tutoring course to set the listening teaching free and satisfy the students’ exam-oriented needs. At the same time, we ought to reform the lesson type, set up the listening and speaking class.
