| Information technology(IT) texts are quite common now in non-literary translation. As well as the development of information technology and the growth of international exchanges, there is also a rising demand for better translations of this kind of texts in relevant industries. Great gaps do exist between Chinese and English in many aspects such as manners of thoughts and habits in language, naturally there are many differences in cohesion and coherence. The translation of a selected piece of information technology text was carefully carried out in the project. The author adopted appropriate ways of cohesion according to the verbal habits, sentence structure and cultural characteristics based on the cohesion theories of Halliday, Hasan and Hu Zhuanglin. The result showed that appropriate adjustments shall be carried out to fit the cohesion differences between the two languages to reach a piece of translation that is fluent in writing, clear in structure and distinct in logic, finally fulfill the demand of coherence, which would bring more readability for the translations.
