| This translation report is based on the English-Chinese translation of AI in Marketing,Sales and Service(Chapters 4 and 5),which mainly introduces conversational AI and deep learning.The book is a scientific text which belongs to the informative text.Thus it is logically strong with high information density and complex sentence structure.Besides,the differences between Chinese and English in grammar and logic make it a challenge to represent coherence and information transmission function of the source text in the translation,which will be focused on in this report.According to Halliday and Hasan’s Cohesion in English and other related theories,the report discusses the representation of coherence in three aspects: logical,grammatical and semantic coherence.The author goes into the subject from how to identify and transform transitional,conditional and causal relations in the logical aspect,from ellipsis and reference in the grammatical one and from word level in the semantic one.Translation techniques including transition,reduction,change,clarification are adopted to solve the problems.The author has benefited a lot from the translation practice,hoping that the report could be referential to related studies. |
