BackgroundMental health problems of modern college students has been widespread concern and attention, the current state of independent colleges construction supporting large, number of independent college students is increasing year by year, students in the independent colleges into study process, because of the social, family and personal reasons, the meeting of all kinds of pressure, which will lead to mental health problems in a certain extent. The current research on the mental health of college students are more concentrated in the ordinary university, the independent college to study less. This study explores the independent college students’ achievement motivation, self-efficacy, interpersonal skills and mental health problems with regard to the correlation.ObjectiveThe basic situation of research on independent college students psychological health, compare the differences of independent colleges and ordinary college students mental health, achievement motivation, self-efficacy, interpersonal skills, aims to provide some guidance and countermeasures should be to improve the level of mental health of students in independent colleges.Methods1. This research mainly adopts questionnaire survey, using stratified random sampling method, the extraction of roughly the same proportion of college students as the research sample of this study, taking a class as a unit, selected 800 students from SanQuan Medical College and Huanghe S&T College School of two independent college, selected 600 from Henan Institute of Science and Technology and Xinxiang Medical University of two universities.2. Collect relevant the data through the questionnaire survey method, adopts The AchievementMotivation Scale, General Self-Efficacy Scale, A survey of College Students’ Interpersonal Competence Questionnaire and CSMHS as the research tool of this study.3. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS 17 statistical software, mainly used descriptive analysis, Student’s t test, F test, correlation analysis, regression analysis and other methods of processing data.Results1. Independent colleges and ordinary college students has significant difference in the mental health score (t=5.36, P<0.001), in the anxiety dimension (t=3.83, P<0.001), social attack dimensions (t=-4.73, P<0.001) there was significant difference in the mental health, other dimensions does not exist significant difference.2. Independent college students and general college students in self efficacy and interpersonal skills have the remarkable difference, the ordinary college students’ self-efficacy is significantly higher than that of independent college students (t=-4.44, P<0.001), students of independent college students interpersonal skills significantly higher general College students (t=2.13, P<0.05).3. The total score of psychological health of college students in independent colleges have significant differences in the degree (t=2.20, P<0.05), there are also significant differences in grade (F=4.38, P<0.001). Boys and girls in the independent colleges rely on the existence of significant differences on the dimensions(t=-2.44, P<0.05), the only child and non only child has significant difference in social attack dimensions (t=3.13, P<0.05), the urban students and rural students in social withdrawal dimensions exist significant difference (t=-2.20, P<0.05). Undergraduates and junior college students in social withdrawal (t=2.49, P<0.05), paranoid dimensions (t=2.28, P<0.05), there was significant difference,in the grade of somatization (F=3.41, P<0.05), depression (F=3.22, P<0.05),inferior (F=3.21, P<0.05), social withdrawal (F=3.22, P<0.05), social attack (F=4.97, P<0.001), paranoia (F=4.86, P<0.001) and dependent dimensions (F=5.16, P<0.001), there was significant difference.4. Independent college students score of the achievement motivation have significant differences in gender; there are significant differences between the independent college students’ self-efficacy scores in different gender, specialty, only children,to be born in,male and female students in independent colleges have significant difference in pursuing success motivation dimensions (t=3.67, P<0.01); the urban students and rural college students has significant difference in feel sexual orientation dimensions (t=3.14, P<0.01), there was significant difference in the cognition and evaluation of orientation dimensions (t=2.42, P<0.01). College students in different grades have significant differences in the motivation of pursuing success dimensions (F=6.73, P<0.01), there are significant differences in dimensions of intentionality orientation on the communication of (F=4.15, P<0.05).Conclusions1. The mental health level of college students in independent colleges is lower than that of ordinary college students, studying in different schools, different degrees of anxiety, social attack, has certain influence on students’psychological health level.2. College Students’ psychological health and achievement in Independent Colleges motivation, self-efficacy and interpersonal skills have obvious correlation. Mental health scale score is high, the pursuit of success, the sense of self-efficacy, interpersonal communication ability is low, the higher the motivation of avoiding failure.3. Interpersonal skills, motivation of avoiding failure, grade in a certain extent can predict the mental health level of the independent college students.
