In this study, I used Achievement Motivation Scale(AMS), Social Support Rating Scale and Sympton Checklist 90(SCL-90) as research tools, and regarded 875 college student volunteers from Yangzhou Univercity as subjects. The purpose of this study was to investigate the current status and burnout differences of college student volunteers in each demographic variable, and the relationships among achievement motivation, social support and mental health with the help of SPSS for windows19.0 and AMOS7.0 statistical software. The main conclusions of this study were:(1) Overall, the mental health level of college student volunteers is obviously lower than national norm’s. Thus, the mental health state of college student volunteers is not optimisitic.(2) This study supposes that the demographic variables of college student volunteers will affect their mental health level. The result is:There was no significant difference among college student volunteers on gender, origin of student, whether there are significant differences only, grade, educational level of father with the exception of major, but it was significantly different on some factors.(3) The achievement motivation level of college student volunteers is higher, and motivation to pursue success is is higher than motivation to avoid failure. Except whether there are significant differences only and educational level of father, there was no significant difference among college student volunteers on gender, major, origin of student and grade. College student volunteers of not only child is higher than that of only child on achievement motivation.(4) The level of social support among college student volunteers is high, there was no significanct difference on gender, major, whether there are significant differences only, grade and educational level of father, and it was significantly different on origin of student and family economic status.(5) Achievement motivation and motivation to success had extreme significant negative correlation with mental health, and motivation to avoid failure had extreme significant positive correlation with mental health.(6) Social support and subjective support had extreme significant negative correlation with mental health, and utilization of social support had significant negative correlation with mental health.(7) Social support played a part mediatory role between achievement motivation and mental health, thus, achievement motivation not only can act directly on mental health, but it also can act on mental health through social support.
