With the intensification of globalization and China's entry into WTO, the exchange between China and foreign countries has become increasingly wider and deeper than ever before, ranging from all aspects such as economy, business, culture, technology, etc. Those people who can speak and write fluent English are urgently called for. To meet his demand, higher vocational college pays more and more attention to cultivate a great number of talents with excellent English competence.Because of the heavy teaching task and every class has more than 80 students, English teachers in higher vocational college still spend majority of class time explaining language points with the purpose of consolidating learners'language knowledge, which is conductive to improving their language competence to some degree. But learners usually lack interest and initiative of learning translation, which leads to their poor English competence. This traditional teaching method can not fully meet the requirements of the new situation. Therefore, it is very urgent to improve the teaching method used in college English teaching. Many factors influence the second language acquisition efficacy of higher vocational college English learners, among which mental health and relationship between teachers and students play an important part. Schumann (1978) pointed out language learning was the process of mental development. Educational psychologists believe that among the social and environmental factors, the relationship among people is the most important (Luo Bowei, 1996). American humanistic psychologists pointed out that this kind of study didn't rely on teachers'teaching skills, strong knowledge, his adoption of visual aids and textbooks. Meaningful study relies on the relationship between facilitators (teachers) and learners. From this, we can learn that Rogers attach great importance to relationship between teachers and students. Before the research, the author investigates the current situation of students'mental health and teacher-student relationship in higher vocational college. The author points out the necessity of paying attention to students'mental health and teacher-student relationship. In order to improve non-English major students'English competence, suggestions of cultivating healthy psychology and establishing democratic teacher-student relationship are put forward. Then the author applies this translation teaching model to college English translation teaching in order to develop the current situation of translation teaching and improve non-English majors'translation competence. In order to check out the feasibility and validity of the experimental teaching method in college English translation teaching, the author makes a quasi-experiment in college English classes for about 16 weeks. The participants in the experimental study are 78 sophomores majoring in Computer Science from two natural classes of Shandong Youth College of Political Science. The author randomly chooses one as the experimental class and the other as the control class. Besides, two different teaching methods are employed in the course of the experiment. The author adopts the experimental teaching method to teach the experimental class and the traditional method to teach the control class. The instruments utilized in this study include the pre-test, the post-test, one questionnaire (used both before the experiment and after the experiment) and an interview. On the basis of the empirical study, the thesis mainly solves the following problems: (1) Whether the integrated teaching method can enhance students'translation interest and initiative of learning translation or not; (2) Whether the integrated teaching method can improve students'English competence greatly or not.According to the analysis, the integrated teaching method is confirmed to be feasible and effective in college English teaching. It not only helps to enhance students'interest in English but also makes a great contribution to the improvement of their English competence. In the end, the author points out the limitations of the research and puts forward some suggestions on the further research.
