With the rise of positive psychology,people’s attention to the health has begun to turn to the positive aspects.How to promote the physical and mental development by improving positive psychological content has become a new research perspective.During the college years,girls’ physical development is mature,but their psychological development is relatively backward,so this contradiction may result in many mental problems.A well interpersonal relationship is one of the most important criteria for evaluating mental health,and it is based on a good interpersonal competence.Therefore,it is of great significance for girls to improve their interpersonal skill to keep mental health.Our study intends to discuss the relation among female college students’ positive emotion,interpersonal competence and mental health.Using the Interpersonal Competence Questionnaire of America psychologists,Positive Affect Scale of Zheng Xue and Qiu Lin and the Mental Health Scale for College Students of Cheng Ke and Huang Xi-ting,the study randomly picked 595 female college students in China West Normal University and Neijiang Normal University as the research objects.Using SPSS and MPLUS statistical analysis software,carry on the qualitative analysis and the quantitative analysis to the data.Tn the study,we explore the basic situation of students’ mental health,interpersonal competence and positive emotion,and discuss whether the positive emotion plays a mediating role between interpersonal competence and mental health or not.The results carry out that:(1)Female college students’ mental health is in the medium to upper level.There is no statistical significant difference in major,origin of students and only-child,but in grade,the difference is significant.Specifically,the grade one’s performance level is significantly higher than the sophomore and junior.(2)Female college students’ interpersonal competence need to be further improved,and have significant difference in grade and major,but non statistical significant difference in origin of students and only-child.Specifically,the freshman students’ interpersonal skill is significantly higher than the junior and senior,and the sophomore students’ interpersonal skill is significantly higher than the senior.In theterm of major difference,the interpersonal competence of science students is significantly higher than those liberal arts students.(3)Female college students’ positive emotion is in medium to upper level,it shows that they can experience more positive emotion in daily life.There is no significant difference in grade,major,origin of students and only-child.(4)Students’ mental health,interpersonal competence and positive emotion are notably related respectively.(5)The interpersonal competence can directly predict the mental health,it also can indirectly forecast mental health through positive emotion.It prove that positive emotion play a mediating role between interpersonal competence and mental health.The mediating effect accounts for 21.3% of the total.According to the results,to promote female students’ mental health,we can start with the improvement of positive emotion and interpersonal skill.
