As economic globalization is deepened, the exchanges among countries are not merely limited to economic field any longer, while the ideological sphere of cultural exchanges is expanded. Sinology, as classical ideological system of China, has gradually presented its importance and applicability. As China gets stronger and more influential for foreign countries, Chinese people’s sense of national identity has been increased, with higher awareness of national culture and pride, and there is an increasing amount of studies on Sinology in this new era. It is inevitable that Sinology will have greater impacts on Chinese and be publicized to foreign countries to a larger extent. Thus, favorable social and political environment has been made available for research on Sinology and its translation into foreign languages. In this paper, some chapters of a Sinology monograph known as Sinology and Its Modernity are translated to find out problems that appeared during translation, the corresponding problems and personal weaknesses. At present, the Chinese which are obscure and difficult to be understood shall be translated into English for plenty of monographs on Sinology-related theories. In the course of translations, there are so many problems that the translations can hardly be understood. Consequently, the English translations usually fail to make foreign readers grasp the tenet of original texts, but mislead them, so that the most essential parts of Sinology are not conveyed. In view of such problems, it is necessary for translators to strengthen corresponding training and seek easily operable translation strategies through practices. In this practice report on translation of Sinology monographs into English, it is expected that the report offers some references and inspiration for the translation of such type of texts. In addition, English translations of Sinology and Its Modernity are analyzed and summed up. Based on precious translation experience, the monograph is translated according to translation theories with pertinent skills, in order to summarize its characteristics and put forward further study on translation strategies. It is extremely difficult to understand Sinology monographs, which are covering classical Chinese due to its particularity. In consideration of such texts, corresponding strategies and schemes for Chinese-English translations are examined, in hope of having certain referential value for future research on translations.
