The E-C translation project is composed of a set of documents for ITT(Initial Teacher Training)programme. The documents include the content of this programme, teachers’ standard and regulations as well as ITT criteria and so forth. They specifically discuss the rights and obligations of initial teachers in UK,illustrate case studies of some UK’s educational institutions, and provide the experience and achievements of the programme.Based on communicative translation, this translation generally adopts the strategy of domestication, focusing on readers and aiming at communication. The Case Study is mainly divided into two parts: lexicon and syntax. With the guidance of Catford’s translation theories such as level shifts and class shift, the Method of Conversion and of Addition are used in lexicon translation. For the abbreviations in the original text, the strategies of Annotation,Literal Translation and Free Translation are adopted. From the aspect of syntax translation, passive voice and long sentences are key points which require various strategies to be logically translated. The thesis is composed of five chapters. The first chapter serves as the project description, which explains the background of this thesis; The second chapter is the process of the translation project, including the preparational works, the process of translation and the proofreading work. The third chapter discusses the translation theories and strategies to be adopted. The fourth chapter illustrates the problems and solutions in this project from two aspects: lexicon and syntax. The fifth chapter summarizes the project and reflects on its defects.
