This is a translation report on the translation of participles in legal texts. The legal text discussed in this report is the first part of Canadian Corporations Act. When translating Canadian Corporations Act, the author finds there are many participles in the material. The syntactic functions of participles are very complex, which makes the translation difficult. As a result, the participles become an obstacle of translating the legislative texts. In this report, the author focuses on analyzing and translating the participles in Canadian Corporations Act. Firstly, the author briefly introduces the types, syntactic functions of participles and the general translation methods of participles. Then, the author mainly explores the translation methods of the participles in Canadian Corporations Act, including conversion, inversion and division. At last, the author draws a conclusion and summarizes some gains in the translation practice.
