Abstract/Summary:
Language is the carrier of culture. It carries the unique cultural connotation of a nation. As the most fundamental and active part of language system vocabulary can certainly reflect the culture full of variety within a specific nation. Being an important part of Chinese culture, national cultural words are exactly the words with strong national cultural color in Chinese vocabulary. The purpose of Teaching of Chinese as a Second Language (TCSL) is to train cross-cultural communicative competence of foreign students. The combination of language teaching and cultural factor teaching is an inevitable requirement of TCSL. Therefore, rich in cultural connotation, Chinese national cultural words is the most important part of Teaching of Chinese vocabulary as a Second Language.As far as the present state is concerned, the study of specific teaching of Chinese national cultural words is still rare in academia of TCSL. Teaching of Chinese national cultural words in TCSL is still a lack of systematic theoretical guidance and effective method of teaching strategies. Only pay full attention to it and strengthen the research, can better guide foreign students to their study of Chinese and cross-cultural communication.This paper draws on the existed theoretical research and teaching experience. Based on this, apply the theories of comparative linguistics, cultural linguistics, intercultural communication etc. On the one hand, explain the importance of Chinese national cultural words teaching in TCSL theoretically; On the other hand, using the methods of analyzing the quantitative statistics and questionnaire survey, made an investigation and statistical analysis of the inclusion and compilation of Chinese national cultural words in the series of Undergraduate textbooks of TCSL. And analyze the situation that foreign students master Chinese national cultural words systematically and comprehensively from two points of view.One is the comparison of acquisition of foreign students from different grades under test.The other is that of Chinese cultural circle and non-Chinese cultural circle. Find and summarize the shortcomings in textbooks and teaching in TCSL. On this basis, try to propose a series of targeted recommendations of preparation of textbooks. Then, on the basis of improving the preparation of textbooks, make relevant teaching strategies and recommendations against the inherent limitations of textbooks. I hope this study can provide some new ideas and useful reference for the teaching of Chinese national cultural words in TCSL.
