Report On Chinese Translation Of Microalgae For Oil

With the soar of world energy consumption, energy crisis more and moreprofoundly affects global social and economic development. Solving the temporaryand approaching energy issue by seeking renewable energy has become a hot spot.Among many approaches, extracting oil from microalgae is one that is the mostpromising. For this reason, translation of such data has become very helpful forresearchers in this field to exchange information.The report summarizes and analyzes the translation of the chosen text usingtranslation strategies and skills. The English version of “Microalgae for oil” is over7,000English words, provided by Qingdao Institute of Bioenergy and BioprocessTechnology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The Chinese translation is guided bythe Communicative Translation Theory. Since the text is a typical informative text ofscience and technology in nature, the author realize that the focus should be on theunderstanding of the source language information and the communicative power ofthe target language document so that the target readers may receive the relevantinformation.This report is written on the basis of the translation of a document on microalgaefor oil. The report consists of four chapters. Chapter1is an introduction to thetranslation strategies and skills, as well as the features of the technical document;Chapter2briefly introduces the original text, the preparation of and tools used in thetranslation practice; Chapter3discusses some translation methods by exemplification;.and Chapter4serves as a summary of this practice and inspiration the author gainedfrom it.
