A Study On Chinese Characters Teaching Horizon In Wen Zi Meng Qin

Wen Zi Meng Qiu is a book for children which is written by Wang Yun in the Qing Dynasty for guiding children to read. The book selects more than two thousand daily words from Shuo Wen Jie Zi, which is arranged in classification according to pictographic, self-explanatory, knowing, and echoism. Based on Xu Shen’s interpretation and absorbing other’s opinion, the book states it with its own research findings. The author’s purpose lies in teaching children to learn to read, that is to say, Wen Zi Meng Qiu is an very important one of Wang Yun’s academic monographs. Thus, although the book’s space is small but has a high researching value.This article divided into three parts.The first part make a introduction about Wen Zi Meng Qiu,the second part combine with Wen Zi Meng Qiu and character teaching method,the last part discuss character teaching thought.Through reading the Wen Zi Meng Qiu in detail and carding, this paper illustrates the view on philology that Wang Yun expressed in this book as clear as possible from the aspects of the book’s arrangement, method in explanation and so on; By analyzing his unique thought on philology and education and combining other relevant theories of humanities, this paper illustrates Wang Yun’s method for teaching children how to read; On the basis of theory and method for explanation, contrasting and fusing the Chinese characters teaching theories from ancient to modern times, showing the thoughts on Chinese characters teaching from Wang Yun’s Wen Zi Meng Qiu clearly, and providing some valuable reference for modern and contemporary children’s teaching of literacy or research of teaching Chinese as a foreign language.
