In recent years, with fast economic growth and globalization, it gives a rise to cultural exchange and academic communication and interaction between different countries. However, the language barrier is still a big problem for people to share thoughts and ideas. In this case, a professional interpreter becomes a bridge for them to communicate. Therefore, it is an imminent call for professional interpreters. This report is on a simulated interpreting task, in which the author selected a video of an academic lecture given by Dr. Liu, an associate professor from(Chongqing Normal University) CQNU as the practical material. And only the first two clips of the video were used for the task. To prepare for the interpreting, the author attached great importance to the selection of the task conducting place, the main tools to assist the interpreting task, and the collection of background knowledge information. The author also presented the key and difficult points in the process of interpreting by selecting some typical cases for further analysis from the following perspectives: information redundancy, information restructure and supplement on background information. More specifically, interpreting methods of omission, paraphrase and amplification are used for fluency expression.Based on the case analysis of the report, the following findings were put forward: first of all, full preparation of interpreting is very important for interpreting task; secondly, as interpretation is a kind of communication between different cultures, it is necessary to select different interpreting strategies to make the interpretation version more accessible to the target audience; thirdly, it is suggested that interpreters should have some relevant disciplines backgrounds and a wide range of knowledge which can help catch the points of the speaker and reduce readers’ misunderstanding.
