Abstract/Summary:
Dr.Mo Yan was awarded the 2012 Nobel Prize in Literature,and Professor Tu Youyou was awarded the 2015 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine.Both of them have struck the attention of the world by virtue of their great achievements in respective field,which also demonstrates the increasing soft power of China and its rising prominence on the world stage.For such a very good reason,the author selected their Nobel Prize acceptance speeches as the corpus for simulated simultaneous interpreting(hereinafter referred to as "SI")practice.For each speech the author made a practice and recorded the complete practicing process,during which the experience and defects or problems will be analyzed and summarized in this thesis with coping strategies put forward accordingly.Through such a report,the author hopes that some help could be given to the interpreting study and practice in the future.Four chapters constitute this report,namely,task description,description of the simulated SI process,case analysis,and conclusion.In the first chapter,the author introduces the background,specification and features of this task.Then in the next chapter the author describes the whole simulated SI process,including pre-task preparation,the conduct of the simulated SI,and post-task self-evaluation.The third chapter,at the core of this report,mainly focuses on difficulties and problems encountered by the author in the simulated process and their coping strategies,and the analyses of successful and failed cases.The last chapter,as the conclusion,will provide some inspirations and implications for future interpreting practice.
