The original text of this translation project is taken from the last two chapters of theEstablishing Self-Access from Theory to Practice, written by David Gardner&LindsayMiller. The two chapters are about the evaluation of self-access language learning andcase studies. Based on earlier-stage work of careful analysis of the original text,translation and revision, this project report systematically summarizes and discusses theproblems and corresponding translation skills encountered during the translation. Thisreport consists of four parts. Part1is about project introduction. Part2states theimportant role that translator’s translation awareness plays in the translation activityfrom two aspects, namely, language awareness and skill awareness. Based on thelanguage differences between English and Chinese, Part3is mainly concerned abouthow the language awareness and skill awareness are applied in translation practice bycase studies and analysis from the perspectives of words, sentences and discourses. Part4is conclusion which includes translator’s feelings and experience, problems stillremained and the direction of efforts.
