In recent years, cultural exchanges among countries have become closer and more frequent. Publication of translated literary works, as a kind of culture bearers, increases dramatically, so do the demands on the professional translation of literary works. In this context, the work pattern in such translation projects nowadays is required to be transformed from individual work or simple group work to the professional project management of large-scale production in translation. With a growing number of freelancers and translation groups participating in the book translation, the translation itself is more than the simple translation process. As a result, the versatile and professional personnel with proficient translation skills and strong capability of management in translation are badly needed, and standards for them are much higher than before. With this respect, a translator is required to focus on not only improving his language skills in translation but also getting a handle of the utilization of translation tools and technologies and basic knowledge about the translation project management so as to remain invincible in the increasingly fierce competition in the translation service industry. This report provides an overall presentation about the whole working process of this project, analyzes the management of every process, including translation implementation and proofreading process in the project, on the basis of the feasibility analysis of this project and pre-analysis on the source text, makes the evaluation on the project concerning the project implementation, technical application, cooperation by team members and client’s feedback. Finally, the author makes summary on the experiences in successful project implementation with the help of a good sense of reader awareness, the encyclopedic knowledge and the proper utilization of the proper utilization of new tools, especially CAT tools, and proposes some suggestions on the improvements on the project management according to the problems such as weak awareness of finalization for book publication in the translation and unfamiliarity with standards and specifications and the conventional operation process of book publication. The author hopes this report could serve as a reference to some extent for the project management in the book publication translation and attracts more attentions from professors and scholars in both academic and practical researches to discuss and share some experience in the project management of book publication translation. Besides, it may propose some suggestions on the training of a professional and qualified project manager for a translation project in the domestic universities and colleges.
