This is a translation project report for Introduction and Chapter1of a self-help novel,Slowing Down to the speed of life, co-authored by Richard Carlson Ph.D. and Joseph Bailey.“Slowing Down to the speed of life for busy people in the fast-paced society today is areminder. Not at any time require fast, slow down and enjoy the benefits of slow enjoy theChunhuaqiuyue, with a calm and peaceful state of mind, analyze and control their ownthinking, enhance their physique and enjoy life, rather than a waste of life”.(Slowing Downto the speed of life)As Nida said,“translating consists in reproducing in the receptor language the closestnatural equivalent of the source-language message, first in terms of meaning and secondly interms of style”.(Nida,1982:218) This translation report involves five chapters:1)Introduction to the two authors and the original text.2) Translating Process Analysis,consisting of three steps.3) Style and Translation. Equivalence is the key of style.4)Translation Techniques, including lexical accommodation and syntactic accommodation and5) Conclusion, summarizing the translation report.
