Translation Report On Correspondence From Ahf Project Of CREG No.3Ethiopia Branch

This paper is a translation report of the correspondence from international engineering contracting project. The object of the study is the correspondences of CREG No.3Ethiopia Branch AHF Project. Correspondences are practical writing and the original text is English version. As the only option of formal communication, the correspondence translation is of great significance to the Chinese staff in AHF Project. Based on the instruction of Reiss’s text typology and Vermeer’s skopos theory, this report gives an explanation and analysis of the problems encountered in correspondence translation. It also gives a conclusion of the experience and lessons in translation and provides a reference to translation of analogous text.This report is divided into four parts. In the first part, it gives an introduction to the background and task of the translation. The second part is the description of the translation procedure, including basic capacity of a translator, preliminary preparation before translation and the theoretical instruction employed in this report. By the case analysis, the third part gives a summary of the difficulties and key points in translation and provides the corresponding translation strategies employed. The fourth part is a conclusion of the experience and lessons in this translation task. Some remained problems are also presented in this part.
