The Interpreting Study Of Talk Show Programs Under The Guidence Of The Interpreting Theory

With the development of technology and the popularization of the network, a growing number of US television shows appeared into Chinese people’s lives. Daily Show, a talk show program, is full of humor, wit and concerned people’s lives. It is particularly popular among Chinese netizens. And it is especially welcomed by the public with higher education and certain level of English. They all hope to understand the US more through this kind of show. However, how to translate the source language (English) which was used in the program into fluent and understandable Chinese has become the main obstacle during this communication process. In that case, we need a translator to translate the source language and target language appropriately so as to build a bridge of understanding. In this paper, under the guidance of the theory of interpretation, take consecutive interpreting of the United States’TV talk show program Daily Show as an example, the writer tried to analyze how to translate the words of the host appropriately as well as conclude the practical ways in translating such kind of programs. In this way we can achieve the expected effects and avoid the unnecessary misunderstandings caused by the improper translation.
