Report On Interpreting Two Episodes Of The Talk Show Star Face

Interpreting is a kind of cross-cultural activity,which plays an increasingly important role in the international exchanges and cooperation.As the most immediate means of spreading civilization,Television(TV)owns the largest number of viewers.Besides,talk show is one of the most popular forms of TV program and the importance of its interpreting also increases.Talk show interpreting is mostly made in the way of consecutive interpreting,which brings the great challenges except for offering a broader platform.The interpreter chose two episodes of StarFace,Dispute on GMO and Approval of GMO,as the materials of interpreting simulation.The report would be completed by analyzing typical cases on the basis of pragmatic equivalence.The report is composed of four main parts,which mainly includes project description,process description,case analysis and conclusion.Project description includes the brief description of the selected topic information,introduction of TV talk show interpreting and the theory of pragmatic equivalence.Process description includes the analysis of preparations for pre-interpreting and while-interpreting procedures.In the part of case analysis,the interpreter will analyze some cases combined with the theory.Finally,the two pragmatic failures of the consecutive interpreting from the perspective of Pragmatic Equivalence will be concluded and the related strategies will be summarized based on this.
