Practice Report On C-E Consecutive Interpretation Of "Jin Xing Talk Show"

Originated in the United Kingdom in the eighteenth century and developed in the United States,Talk show was introduced into China in 1990 s.“Jin Xing Talk Show”is created by Can Xing Production Company and is hosted by a famous dancer,Jin Xing.It is positioned as a large popular cultural show,which deals with and pays attention to hot topics in daily life.Up to the present,few,if any,translations or interpretations of Jin Xing Talk Show have been conducted by scholars or translators,let alone the study of translations on this show.So this report attempts to deal with the interpretation of this popular show in China since the author believes that it can promote the cultural communication and understanding to some extent between China and other countries.In terms of the current development of entertainment industry,foreign talk shows,such as the Alan Show,have a wide range of audience in China.But for China's talk show,it is almost not known to foreign countries because of maybe language barriers.The author hopes that with more and more people showing interest in China,Chinese talk show will attract more and more audience from other countries in the coming days,which can help them understand current China better.Interpretation is a verbal communicative behavior that transfers information from one language to another through oral expression,which is a basic communicative tool that human beings rely on in cross language and cross-cultural communication.Under the guidance of Interpretative Theory,which directly came from long-term interpretation practice,the author conducted C-E consecutive interpretation on Jin Xing Talk Show.The interpreting work includes three sections: Jin Xing Talk Show,Questions for Mrs.Jin and Jin Xing Time.The interpreter adopts translation methods such as literal translation,liberal translation,addition and omission etc.to deal with different topics,problems and situations.Meanwhile,in the author's daily interpreting practice,there are many communicative interpreting emphasizing usual oral expressions.It can be helpful and beneficial for the author to study hot topics relating to social life.
