Objective:To discuss the influence of hypertension with diabetes mellitus on homocysteine and ankle brachial index.Methods:120 cases of hypertension which had been found in a first time were divided into two groups:simple hypertension group(n=60),with diabetes mellitus group(n=60).30 cases of healthy individuals were chosen as matched group, the blood glucose, blood lipid, blood uricacid,C-reactive protein,Hcy and ABI were measured respectively, and their correlation was analyzed.Results:1、There was no significant difference in the age of the control group, the hypertension group and the combined group. The HDL-C in the hypertension group and the combined group were all very close, the difference was not statistically significant. But the differences of total cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL-C, uric acid level of the three groups had statistical significance. The CRP of the combined group were higher than that of the hypertension group, the difference was statistically significant.2、Compared with the matched group, the Hcy [(16.54±1.441),(19.87±4.756)vs(12.98±4.103)μmol/L]of the other groups were significantly increased, and ABI level [(1.03±0.154)、(0.82±0.171)vs(1.17±0.079) P<0.05]were all reduced.3、Hcy was negatively correlated with ABI.The higher the level of Hcy, the more severe atherosclerosis, the lower the level of ABI.4、Logistic regression analysis showed that,cholesterol、low-density lipoprotein cholesterol、blood glucose and Hcy were related independently with arterial sclerosis. Conclusions:Combined with type 2 diabetes increase the Hcy levels of patients with EH, make it higher, and aggravating the degree of arteriosclerosis, which showed a decrease of ABI.It is further confirmed that homocysteine is a risk factor for the occurrence and development of atherosclerosis in hypertensive patients. In the management of patients with hypertension, except blood pressure level, we should also pay attention to the detection of blood glucose, blood homocysteine, for delaying the occurrence and development of target organ damage in patients with hypertension. For the high risk of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases,we should put a high value on joint popularity detection of ABI and Hcy, thus finding abnormalities as soon as possible and early treat to reduce the incidence of disease and mortality.
