Objects: To study the association between general situation, lifestyle, dietary patternduring pregnancy and gestational diabetes mellitus and their affects on pregnancyoutcome. To study the relationship between serum homocysteine, insulin, adiponectin,resistin and gestational diabetes mellitus. To explore the factors of serumhomocysteine and the mechanism of insulin resistance.Methods: A case-control study of49gestational diabetes women and77healthywomen who received prenatal physical examinations and await delivery in The1stAffiliated Hospital of Jujian Medical University, surveys were used to investigate thesocial demography, lifestyle history, eating habits and using of nutrition supplement.Food frequency questionnaire was used to investigate the dietary pattern. Bloodsamples were collected to isolate serum for testing of homocysteine, adiponectin,resistin and insulin using Enzyme-Linked Immuno Sorbent Assay. Concentration oftotal protein, albumin, globulin, et al were referred to the nosocomial testing results.Results:1. Prenatal transportation (P=0.013) various between gestational diabetes womenand healthy women, the differences among other general situation and lifestyle arenot notable.2. Gestational diabetes women tend to consume more of dairy (P=0.032) and aquaticproducts (P=0.032). Dietary pattern mainly contains fungus, meat, aquaticproducts and eggs (P=0.027) and that mainly contains fruits (P=0.002) arepossibly associated to gestational diabetes mellitus.3. Gestational diabetes mellitus is influenced by times of birth (P=0.023), and itleads to the increased bleeding in delivery (P=0.001) and lower Apgar score(P=0.013).4. The concentration of serum homocysteine is not markedly different between twogroups. The concentration of adiponectin (P=0.011) and globulin (P=0.028) arelower in case group.5. Serum homocysteine is related to resistin (P<0.001). Resistin (P=0.002) and body mass index before delivery (P=0.029) are related to HOMA-IR.Conclutions:1. Adequate physical activity is required during pregnancy. Intake of vegetables shallbe increased and intake of meat or fish should be controlled especially pluriparaand gestational diabetes women.2. Homocysteine, resistin and body mass index to be considered as risk factors ofgestational diabetes mellitus.
