The Study On Oral Health Service Need, Demand And Utilization Of 40597 Persons Undergoing Physical Examination In Zunyi City

Objective:The analysis gives full understanding about the oral health service need, demand and utilization of adults, 18-64 years old, undergoing physical examination in Zunyi City, to provide reference for carrying out the oral preventive health care, improving residents oral health and oral health services utilization rate.Methods:1、Studies analyzing available routine data-sets : through statistical analysis of the examination results of 18-64 years old residents who have oral health examination in medical center of affiliated hospital of Zunyi medical college in 2012-2014, to understand the state of oral health service need.2、Oral health questionnaire survey was conducted among 1200 18-64 years old residents who have oral health examination in medical center of affiliated hospital of Zunyi medical college in 2014 selected by systematic sampling,in order to understand the state of oral health service demand and utilization.Results: 1、Statistical results of physical examination data:The rate of oral health services need for the physical examination population was 96.5%. The prevalence of dental caries,caries without filling rate, DMFT were 69.5%,68.8%, 2.48. The detection rate of wedge-shaped defect was 22.7%.Dental calculus detection rate, the detection rate of gingival bleeding, the prevalence of periodontitis were 80.4%, 60.5% and 13.7%. Denture rate,the rate of repair teeth were 6.3% and 10.6%.2、Statistical results of the questionnaire:Oral health service demand of the physical examination population is low, 48.2% of the population think they need to see a dentist. The main reasons of not seeing a dentist in ayear were the teeth have no problem(62.0%) and the oral disease is not serious(26.7%). Self-reported oral health status is higher, 33.8% think they have no oral diseases,49.2% think they have mild disease.The rate of oral health services utilization for the physical examination population was 39.7%, the average number of visits is 1.48, the rate of supragingival scaling is 18.8%. Recently visiting a dentist is mainly due to acute or chronic toothache or other oral problems to treat(68.2%), regular oral examination(22.0%).Oral health services received mainly for supragingival scaling(36.7%), filling(31.6%), repairing teeth(11.7%).Medical institutions to visit are mainly tertiary general hospital(32.8%), private dental clinics(28.8%), tertiary stomatological hospital(21.3%), the main reasons for choosing the medical institutions are short distance(38.1%), the level of management ability of the dentist is higher(27.8%).Analysis of related factors showed that different gender,age,occupation,income, self-reported oral health and self-perceived the effects of oral diseases on systemic health influenced the rate of visiting a dentist in a year(P < 0.05).Conclusion:1、Oral health level of the physical examination population, 18-64 years old,in Zunyi is low, oral health services needs a large amount, the need rate as high as 96.5%.2、Oral health service demand of the physical examination population,18-64 years old,in Zunyi is low.The self-reported oral health status is more optimistic, the knowledge of oral diseases and the degree of attention are lack.3、The rate of oral health services utilization for the physical examination population,18-64 years old,in Zunyi is low and there is a great gap between the demand rate, potential demand is large, the majority of the population are the type of accepting oral health service when have oral diseases.
