ObjectiveTo study the effect of moving acupuncture and fire acupuncture treat TMD. In order to find a effective treatment of TMD and to popularize it.MethodsSelecting 60 patient from Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine NO.1 Affiliated Hospital. Randomly divided into two groups:Treating group and comparing group. There are 30 patients in each group. Treating group:First, to ask the patient to do the movement of opening and closing mouth the to find the painful point.Judging which collateral channels it belong to.Then make sure the acupuncture point of "shu" or "xi" on the collateral channels our far arms and legs. Acupuncture the point fast and make the patient feel "zhen gan" and moving the needle and make the patient open and close their mouth about 10 minutes till they feel the reduction of pain. Leaving the needle in the patient, every 10 minutes moving the needle and after 20 minutes pull out the needles. One course of treatment includes five times. Acupuncture one time per day. All the treatment are 2 courses. Note down the score of VAS and the width of opening mouth when the patients begin to ask for treating and after all the treatment have completed. While comparing group make the treatment fellow the textbook methods. Analyze the effect of each group to course of disease.ResultsBoth treating group and comparing group can reduce the pain after treatment (P<0.05),the treating group is more effective than the comparing group (P<0.05). Both treating group and comparing group can increase the width of opening mouth after treatment (P<0.05), the treating group is more effective than the comparing group (P<0.05). The effect of the treating group to acute TMD is 100%;the effect of the comparing group to acute TMD is 85.71%, the treating group is more effective than the comparing group (P<0.05). The effect of the treating group to chronic TMD is 94.44%;the effect of the comparing group to acute TMD is 78.26%, the treating group is more effective than the comparing group (P<0.05).ConclusionThe moving acupuncture and fire acupuncture to treat TMD is effective on the reducing pain and increasing the moving function. It is an effective method to treat TMD and deserves to popularize for none of side effect.
