ObjectiveThe study is designed to investigate the clinical effectiveness and feasibility of the penetration acupuncture for migraine, through observing immediate analgesic effect and total curative effect.MethodsBased on the principle in randomized controlled trials,60 patients of migraine were randomly assigned to two groups of 30 volunteers:①observation group, treated with penetration acupuncture and electro-acupuncture;② control group, treated with normal electroacupuncture. The observation group is needled on taiyang to jiaosun, sizhukong to shuaigu of the affected side, and then adjusted the points according to different symptoms while the control group receives normal electroacupuncture treatment which is needled on taiyang, sizhukong, jiaosun, shuaigu of the affected side and is adjusted the points according to different symptoms. Both treatments last for 30 minutes, three times a week(Mon, Wed, Fri),a month totally. In the first treatment, the VAS ratings were observed at the baseline and after treatment. Headache index, World Health Organization Quality of Life Scale Brief Version (WHOQOL-BREF) were assessed at baseline, after a month of treatment. The data were input to SPSS22.0 for analysis, and evaluate the clinical effect for migraine by the penetration acupuncture.Result1. General information:the analysis by gender, age, illness duration, severity and TCM syndrome show that there is no statistically significant difference in two groups which means that two groups are comparable.2. Immediate analgesic effect:After the first treatment, the VAS score of the two groups have decreased. Compare the D-value of VAS score of the two groups. There is a statistically significant difference in two groups. The total effective rate of the observation group was 86.67% which that of the control group was 76.67%. With the comparison, the difference was significant (P<0.05).3.Total curative effect:One monthe after treatment, the headache index of the two groups have decreased. Compare the D-value of headache index of the two groups. There is a statistically significant difference in two groups(P <0.05).The total effective rate of the observation group was 86.67% which that of the control group was 83.33%. With the comparison, the difference was not significant (P>0.05).4. Quality of Life:As for every field of the two groups, a month after the treatment, the difference was significant (P<0.05). In the field of social relations and environment, the difference between the two groups was not significant (P>0.05). In the field of physiology and psychology, the difference between the two groups was statistically significant. There was a significant difference between the two groups (P<0.01).Conclusion1. In the immediate analgesic effect and total curative effect, the tre atment of the two groups are effective for migraine.2. The immediate analgesic effect of the observation group was better than that of the control group. However, the total curative effect of the two groups was not significant.3. As for the quality of life in the field of social relations and env ironment, the effect between the two groups had little difference. In the f ield of physiology and psychology, the effect of the observation group was better than that of the control group.
