Randomized Controlled Study On Zihua Wenfei Decoction In Treating Postinfectious Cough With Syndrome Of Cold Fluid Retention In Lung

ObjectiveUsing clinical research assess Zihua Wenfei Decoction’s efficacy and safety for the treatment of postinfectious cough.MethodsUsing randomized double-blind placebo-controlled trial to test 144 patients from Guangdong Hospital of TCM (General hospital and Ersha branch) for December 2014 to March 2016, who well understand this test and volunteered for this test. Eventually included 140 patients. Patients randomly divided into treatment group and the control group (n=70).In a week of treatment, the treatment group with Zihua Wenfei Decoction 2 times/day (1 dose), the control group with placebo treatment, both obey the same treatment method. Patients’severity scores of symptoms such as cough, throat itching and and other accompanying symptoms is marked and divided into four classes. Cumulate syndrome integral, and assess the efficacy of Zihua Wenfei Decoction.ResultsCough integral aspect:Patients of the treatment group studied showed a significant decrease in the severity of cough not on the 3rd (P>0.05)but the 5th until the end of the test (both P<0.01).After treatment, the symptom scores of the treatment group were significantly lower than the control group (P<0.01). Throat itching aspect:The treatment group had a total effective rate of 81.4%, was almost twice higher compared with the placebo group (45.7%, P<0.01). No cases got worse in the treatment group while 3 cases in the treatment one had a dry throat and 2 cases got Voice hoarse.ConelusionZihua Wenfei Decoction have a significant effect on alleviating symptoms such as cough and throat itching, the majority of the patients’symptoms can be cured, and no adverse events. Zihua Wenfei Decoction is safe and effective on the postinfectious Cough treatment of syndrome of cold fluid retention in lung.
