Objective To investigate the current conditions of main lifestyles affecting health of the residents at Yuzhong district of Chongqing City, rendering the preventive polices for the unhealthy lifestyles. Methods 1200 residents from 6 communities in Yuzhong district were sampled to know the current conditions of main styles(diet、exercise、smoking、drinking、 sleep) by the multi-stage randomized clustered sampling method. Results 1、 90%of residents understood most of the knowledge of healthy lifestyles; 75.8%of residents paid attention to the knowledge of healthy lifestyles; the network was the first choice to acquire the knowledge of healthy lifestyles for more than half of residents; 2、Diet 46%and 44%respectively couldn’t have meals on time and have breakfast every day. The survey further showed:unbalanced dietary structure, insufficient intake of milk and legumes and eggs, and low consumption for coarse food. Gender and age stages and professions respectively were the influencing factors on having meals on time and having breakfast every day; 3、Exercise 87.1% of residents did exercise.51.5%,13.6%, and 34.9%of residents did exercise in the morning, at noon and after supper separately.72.8%and 28% of residents chose the exercise time period for 30min-60min and 60min-120min respectively.66%of residents had no sweat or sweated slightly at every exercise, the exercise that 34%of residents did were effective, and most of residents weren’t able to reach to the standard of regular exercise (over 3-4times/week better).60%of females did exercise while 39.5%of males took exercise. The educational level and professions were the influencing attributes on the exercise times per week while gender and age stages were the influencing factors on the degree of sweating at every exercise.4、Smoking the smoking prevalence of residents was 25.5%. The male smoking prevalence was higher that the female’s. The smoking rate among 50-69 aged residents was highest while individual businessmen of smoking prevalence were highest. The educational level rising up, the smoking prevalence was decreasing gradually. The smoker smoked 12 cigarettes per day. The passive smoking rate was 39.9%. The female passive smoking rate was 79.4%while the home was the most vulnerable place to suffer from the passive smoking for the female. Gender, educational level and professions were the influencing factors on smoking behaviors.5、Drinking the drinking rate of residents was 64.2%. Age getting increased, the drinking rate was rising gradually. The company personnel of drinking rate were highest, so was the university degree of drinking rate. Beer was preferred for residents.65.5%and 34.5%of residents chose the drinking frequency per week of 1-6 times and more than 7times respectively. The heavy drinking rate of male was far higher than that of female. The heavy drinking rate of 30-50 aged residents was highest, so were the individual businessmen’s and the high-school degree (below) of residents’ heavy drinking rate.6、Sleep PQSI scores manifested:The sleep quality of female was lower than that of male. With ages rising up, the sleep quality was decreasing. The retired of sleep quality was worst, so was the sleep quality of the high-school degree (below) of residents. Female, more than 30-year-old, master degree (above), healthcare personnel, the retired, smoking and the drinking frequency over 7 times per week were the risk factors for the bad sleep quality of residents.Conclusion There are some problems exposed from this survey on the current conditions of main lifestyles affecting health of residents at Yuzhong district in Chongqing City:no comprehensive understanding and low awareness for the knowledge of healthy lifestyles and unhealthy behaviors and habits related with five main lifestyles, as indicates that strengthening and valuing education and broadcasting of healthy life is crucial and the employed long-term, stable and effective policy-type preventive mechanism should be given priorities to build a better supportive environment for the healthy life of residents.
