Objectives:1.To investigate the ovarian cancer patients’ level of self-efficacy and current situation of coping styles in one of Shanxi Province’s first-class hospital;2.to analyze the influencing factors of ovarian cancer patient’s self-efficacy;3.to discuss the relevance of ovarian cancer patients’ self-efficacy and coping styles. Methods:Used convenience sampling method to investigate the epithelial ovarian cancer patients hospitalized in one of Shanxi Province’s first-class hospital from May 2014 to December 2014.The questionnaires include self-designed patients’ general information questionnaire, General Self-Efficacy Scale(GSES)and Medical Coping Style Questionnaire((MCMQ), respectively to investigate patients’ social demographic data and disease-related information, level of self-efficacy and coping styles. The survey questionnaires were distributed 165 copies and 158 copies were valid questionnaires, the effective response rate was 95.76%. Used SPSS17.0 statistical software for data entry and analysis.Results:1.The mean score of 158 cases of ovarian cancer patients’ general self-efficacy points was(23.58 ± 6.25), 54.4% patients were at a medium level, 32.3% of the patients were at a low level, only 13.3% of the patients were at a high level of self-efficacy.2.Ovarian cancer patients with different marital status, occupation, medical payment, religious had different general self-efficacy scores, but the difference was not statisticallysignificant(P> 0.05); the score difference in level of self-efficacy of patients with different ages, long residence, education level, average monthly income was statistically significant(P <0.05).3.The general self-efficacy score difference of patients with different disease types, with or without chronic was not statistically significant(P> 0.05); the general self-efficacy score difference of patients with different disease clinical stages, courses and frequency chemotherapy was statistically significant(P <0.05).4.Ovarian cancer patients’ coping style total score was(43.70 ± 5.658) point; three dimensions named confrontation coping, avoidance coping and resignation coping style scores respectively was(20.32±3.375)、(16.31±3.634)、(10.10±2.781). The confrontation coping type with patient self-efficacy scores were positively correlated(P <0.01), the correlation coefficient was 0.562, while avoidance coping style and patient self-efficacy scores were negatively correlated(P <0.01), the correlation coefficient was- 0.480.5.Multiple regression analysis of ovarian cancer patients self-efficacy’s influence factors shows that educational level, family income, the confrontation coping and avoidance coping became the four variables entered into the final regression equation, and they could explain 51.8% variation in patient self-efficacy.Conclusions:1.Ovarian cancer patients’ overall general self-efficacy was at the middle level. For patients that are older, less educated, lower family income, higher clinical stage, longer course and frequent chemotherapy treated, people should pay more attention to improve their self-efficacy.2.Ovarian cancer patients tend to be more about confrontation coping style, and it was positively correlated with self-efficacy,avoidance coping style was negatively correlated with self-efficacy. The higher self-efficacy patient has, the more they likely to face problems, the lower self-efficacy has, the more tend to evade the issue.3.Ovarian cancer patients’ coping style with their sense of self-efficacy influenced each other. Actively encourage and guide patients to select confrontation coping style toanalyze and solve problems helps improve patient self-efficacy levels.
