Objective 1 To develop the Chinese version of mini-Balance Evaluation Systems Test(mini-BESTest). 2 Evaluate the Chinese version of mini-BESTest reliability and validity. 3 To explore the floor or ceiling effects and correlation of mini-BESTest,used patients with stroke in different extent of illness, for choosing the appropriate balance scale in clinical by objective. Methods 1 Develop the Chinese version of mini-BESTest after obtaining the consent of the author. By following the current translation, reverse translation, cultural adaptation and pre-experiment to translate mini-BESTest. 2 61 stroke patients from the department of neurology and the department of rehabilitation of Hebei United University Affiliated Hospital and Tangshan Gongren Hospital were tested by mini-BESTest by 2 professional staff, including inter rater reliability, test-retest reliability and Cronbach’s α coefficient;308 stroke patients from the department of neurology and the department of rehabilitation of Hebei United University Affiliated Hospital and Tangshan Gongren Hospital from2013, June to 2014, February with BBS and BBA as the criterion were tested by mini-BESTest and BBS, including content validity, structure validity, criterion validity;select 36 patients take rehabilitation training, sensitivity test. 3 Through statistical analysis and tests in 308 patients with mini-BESTest to test the existence of a floor or ceiling effect. The data collected using Excel software to establish database, analyze the verification after the use of statistical software SPSS19.0, using Pearson correlation analysis, factor analysis, paired t test and descriptive statistics analysis. Results 1 Develop the Chinese version of mini-BESTest. 2 The reliability of mini-BESTest: The intergroup correlation coefficients(ICCs) of 4 domains were in the range of 0.856-0.978(P<0.01).The test-retest coefficients of 4 domains were in the range of 0.795-0.951(P<0.01). The Cronbach coefficients ranged from 0.735-0.968(P<0.01). 3.The validity of mini-BESTest: Significant correlation was shown between each entry of mini-BEStest and its domain, the correlation coefficients were 0.785-0.957(P<0.01).The scores of whole assessment and three related domains were significantly correlated between mini-BEStest and BBS, and the correlation coefficients were 0.682-0.873(P<0.01).Extracting two common factors, dynamic balance and static balance. Thevariance contribution is 70.524%.The load factor of dynamic balance is 0.562-0.856,static balance is 0.512-0.860 by the maximum variance orthogonal rotation. Before and after 2 weeks treatment, there were significant differences in each domain and the total assessment(P<0.05).4 The floor or ceiling effects of mini-BESTest: There are no floor or ceiling effects in patients with stroke in mini-BESTest.Conclusion 1 The Chinese version of mini-BESTest has good reliability, validity and sensitivity. 2 There are no of floor or ceiling effect on different degree of stroke patients in mini-BESTest. The mini-BESTest is suitable for clinical application.
