A Study On The Validity And Reliability Of The Simplified Chinese Version Of Function In Sitting Balance Test For Chinese Stroke Patients

Objective:The purpose of this study is to translate the scale of Function in Sitting Balance Test and investigate the validity and reliability of the simplified Chinese version on sitting balance among Chinese stroke patients.Methods:Contacted the original author of FIST scale by e-mail for gained their authorization of sinicization.The final simplified Chinese version of FIST scale was translated into English version,and gained the recognition of the original author.There were 60 stroke patients volunteered to participate in the study.All patients were assessed by the same evaluator with PASS scale,BI scale and FIST scale,in which the FIST scale was only used to collect video data,but not score.Three raters rated the video data with FIST scale and scored;the third rater rated the video data with FIST again one month after the first rating.SPSS 20.0was used for statistical analysis of the results.Results:Six cases were excluded due to some unadvantageous camera angle and evaluation problems,and the data of 54 patients were finally statistically processed.1.The exploratory factor analysis find that three factors was identified and each factor with an eigenvalue greater than one.This study found that FIST had general correlation with BI?r=0.698,0.791,0.849?and good correlation with PASS in total score(r_V1=0.709,r _V2=0.806,r_V3=0.850),with statistical significance?p<0.01?.2.The intra-reliability ICC value of FIST scale total score is 0.974,while the intra-reliability ICC value of sub-score is 0.778-0.948,with good distribution of the 95%confidence interval.The inter-reliability ICC _V1-V2=0.896,ICC _V1-V3=0.891,ICC _V2-V3=0.955;The inter-reliability ICC of the sub-score is 0.537-0.905,and the 95%confidence interval fluctuated significantly.Conclusions:1.The Chinese version of FIST scale has general construct validity and good criterion-related validity.2.The Chinese version of FIST scale has high intra-reliability,however,the inter-reliability needs to be further verified by expanding the sample size.
