Objectives To stuty the incidence and distribution characteristics and influence factors of sleep disorders in the elderly.Methods Using multi-stage stratified cluster sampling method, three cities were selected in He Bei province total of 6173 elderly people during July 2012 to May 2013, investigating with questionnaire, including general demographic data of elderly people(include urban and rural, age,gender, marriage, educational level, etc), Pittsburgh sleep quality index scale(PSQI), SF-36 health survey profile, daily life ability scale(ADL), mental health scale(SCL-90), social support scale(SSRS), Family assessment device(FAD) and investigation of common chronic disease situation, etc. All data were established with EXCEL and analysised with SPSS13.0 package.Results 1 Status of sleep quality of elderly : there were 1641 people with sleep disorder(accounting for 26.6%) and 4532 people without sleep disorder(accounting for 73.4%) in all the surveyed elderly; there were 921 elderly women with sleep disorder(accounting for29.3%) and 719 elderly men with sleep disorder(accounting for 23.8%); Urban elderly with sleep disorder were 700(accounting for 22.4%), rural elderly with sleep disorder were941(accounting for 30.9%). To compare urban elderly and rural elderly in sleep each dimension showed that rural elderly in subjective sleep quality, time to falling asleep, sleep efficiency, sleep disturbance, hypnotic drugs, daytime dysfunction, scored seven aspects of PSQI scores were higher than urban elderly, but scored lower than the urban elderly in sleep time. 2 The influencing of the distribution of sleep disorders in the elderly single factor analysis showed that the elderly general situation(cultural degree, marital status), physical and mental health status, health status, daily life ability, uncomfortable time in the past half year, pain, hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, stroke, mental status, negative life events),daily life habits(Creating a good environment for sleep, smoking, drinking, drinking tea,sports, hobbies, participate in community activities), family and social support(social support, family functioning, communication with their children), economic status, monthly income, balance of payments, presence of endowment insurance, type of medical insurance)were associated with sleep disorders in the elderly, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.01 or P<0.05). 3 The influencing multiple factors analysis of the distribution of sleep disorders in the elderly showed that factors of the distribution of sleep disorders in theelderly including uncomfortable time in the past half year, pain, suffering from hypertension,heart disease, mental health, negative life events, smoking, drinking, drinking tea, the sleep environment, participate in community activities, communication with their children,balance of payments, type of medical insurance. And uncomfortable time in the past half year were longer, the higher the degree of pain and suffered from hypertension, heart disease, mental health, the worse, with negative life events, smoking, drinking, drinking tea,did not create a good sleep environment, did not take part in community activities, the less communication with their children, Spending more than income, the type of medical insurance was rural cooperative medical system has the higher prevalence of sleep disorders in the elderly.Conclusions 1 The rural elderly has higher prevalence of sleep disorders than the urban elderly, the overall sleep quality was poor; the elderly women has higher prevalence of sleep disorders than elderly men. 2 The influencing factors of sleep disorders in the elderly including: uncomfortable time in the past half year, pain, suffering from hypertension, heart disease, mental health, negative life events, smoking, drinking, drinking tea, Creating a environment for sleep, participate in community activities, and communication with their children, balance of payments, type of medical insurance.
