Objective To investigate the prevalence of sleep disorders among olders?65 years who living in Huangpu District, Shanghai, China and to explore the factors that associated with the sleep quality.Method1. Subjects:1053 elderly people from the population of health examination from June 2014 to September 2014 were investigated.2. Content of this research:Cross-sectional survey method was used to collect the demographic data, including age, sex, smoking and drinking history, history of disease and medication, and the blood pressure, waist circumference, hip circumference, height, and weight were measured using standard methods. The Chinese version of the Pittsburgh sleep quality index(PSQI) scale was used to collect the sleep status by 4 trained nurses.3. Statistical analysis:Epidata version 3.1 was used to establish a database and SPSS version 17.0 statistical software was used to analyse. The distribution of factors such as age, sex, smoking, alcohol consumption, alcohol consumption, weekly activity, health problems, health status, and health status were evaluated, and compared between groups using chi square test. Logistic regression analysis was used to calculate the relationship between the above factors and sleep disorders.Result1. The total of 1053 people participated in the questionnaire survey, 1000 valid questionnaires were included.2. In this study, 1000 valid questionnaires were collected, and the total score of PSQI was 4.64±4.60, 342(34.2%) patients had sleep disorder with the PSQI>5 as cut-off value. The prevalence of sleep disorder in males and females were 27.48% and 40.23%, respectively, the difference between two groups was significant(P<0.001).3. Among females, the proportion of aged 80-92 years old was higher in case group than that of the control group(25% vs 17.14%). And the proportions of never exercise, health problems, including all kinds of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases of the number?3 and the proportion of using hypnotic drugs were higher than those in the control group. However, percents of overweight(BMI? 24 kg / m2) and central obesity were lower in case group than the control group. Among males, the proportion of aged 80-92 years old was lower in case group than that of the control group(3.85% vs 19.24%). The percents of the overweight, central obesity and using hypnotic drugs were higher than that of the control group.4. Stepwise logistic regression analysis showed that the risk of sleep disturbance was increased by 0.948 and 1.774 among females aged 70-79 years and 80-92 years compared with those aged 65-69 years. Women with waist circumference? 80 cm, participating in physical exercise ervery day, had lower riske suffering from sleep disorders. Among male population, the risk of sleep disturbance(OR = 0.115, 95%CI=0.043-0.307) was lower in patients with 80-92, compared with those of 65-69 years old. Individuals participanting in physical exercise every day had a lower risk with sleep disorder, and OR=0.512.Conclusion1. Prevalence of the sleep disorder is 34.2% among the people aged over 65 years old in Shanghai city, and females had higher prevalence than males. Among females, prevalence of the sleep disorder increased with age, which was lower among highest male age groups.2. The main influencing factors of sleep disorders were gender and physical exercise, so we should pay attention to the elderly female population, and promote the healthy life style of physical exercise, so as to improve the quality of sleep.
