Hsueh Son Pediatric Academic Thought

Through the pediatric medical records and related discourses, the characteristics of academic thoughts, clinical experience and rules of treatment based on syndrome differentiation of the XUE have been systematically analyzed and concluded.By research methods of literature,the medical records of all kinds of pediatric diseases were searched and collected based on intensive reading of Bao Ying Cuo Yao(Synopsis of Pediatrics,保婴�'�要).The medical records were analyzed according to Traditional Chinese Medicine system of principles,methods,prescriptions and Chinese herbs and the contributions to Chinese pediatrics of the XUE were summarized according to the relevant discourses.The XUE persisted in the Chinese medical thought of Correspondence Between Nature and Human, followed the principle of Yin and Yang in Four Seasons, emphasized to treat the root and explored the etiology and pathogenesis from the view of four seasons, five organs and the spleen and stomach. They paid more attention to the spleen and kidney, nourished the spleen and kidney in order to tonify the source. They diagnosed diseases by inspection and palpation and advocated that five facial complexions and pulse conditions corresponded to the diseases. They differentiated by organs, as well as comprehensively considering meridians and channels, Qi and blood, accurate time. The XUE were adept in method of heating and nourishing, especially nourishing in early morning and evening, and treated infant diseases through improving mother’s corresponding physical conditions. They established traumatic syndrome diagnosis and treatment internally and externally, combining moxibustion and Chinese herbs. They discussed exanthema variolosum with the rich clinical experience and thoroughly analyzed the etiology and pathogenesis, which showed their profound understanding of pediatric diseases.The XUE have formed the special pediatric academic thoughts which emphasizes to treat the root, treat diseases according to four seasons, five organs and the spleen and stomach and highlight the thought of preventive treatment of disease. They have accurate methods of diagnosis and syndrome differentiation. They make Chinese pediatric trauma become systematic diagnosis and treatment system and their curative thoughts and methods improve the efficacy. The academic thought of heating and nourishing on basis of methods of treating infant diseases through improving mother’s corresponding physical conditions and nourishing in early morning and evening with rich clinical experience has great impacts on pediatrics, which promotes the development of pediatrics.
